Why don’t individual weights always add up to the total?

In shipping and logistics systems, weights, dimensions, and volumes are stored and calculated using full-precision values to ensure accuracy across shipments, reports, and invoices.

For readability, individual line items displayed in the application may appear rounded (for example, whole kilograms or pounds). However, totals and aggregates are calculated using the original unrounded values. Because of this, manually adding up the displayed line items may not always exactly match the reported total. This behavior is expected and intentional.

The totals shown in the system always reflect the most precise and accurate calculation and should be considered the authoritative values. This approach is standard across modern freight forwarding and shipping platforms and prevents cumulative rounding differences in larger or multi-line shipments.
